Old North East Neighbourhood Association [ONE] was created as an evolution from the origins of Huron Heights Community Association (2019-2024). On September 1, 2024, ONE became an Ontario registered not-for-profit neighbourhood organization, holding its first Annual General Meeting on September 9, 2024.
ONE was created by residents, for residents. To capture the uniqueness of the older part of Northeast London, ONE encompasses residents, businesses, and community organizations located in six City-defined Northeast London neighbourhoods south of the Thames River: Carling Heights, Hillcrest, Huron Heights, Kilally Valley, Kipps Lane and Ridgeview Heights.
ONE’s geographical boundaries are:
- North: South bank of Thames River between Adelaide Street North and Clarke Road
- South: CPR Railway-London Yard between Adelaide Street North and Highbury Road
- East: Clarke Road
- West: Adelaide Street South
ONE is an INCLUSIVE organization – open to ages 14 and above. Any person, regardless of age, who resides within these boundaries is automatically a RESIDENT member. Any person residing outside our boundaries, with an affinity Old Northeast London, can apply to be an ALLY/FRIEND OF ONE member.
ONE uses a mission-based approach to guide the management of its operations and governance. It has a working Board of Directors compirising elected positions: Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, and up to six Director positions, approved by the Board. Every fall, ONE holds its Annual General Meeting at which time these appointments are ratified by ONE members.
ONE’s Board of Directors has decided to focus its initial efforts on building up community spirit, neighbourhood development, fostering inclusion and creating a deeper sense of belonging, for a better quality of resident life and lifestyle, and safer, stronger neighbourhoods in Northeast London.
ONE is a member of the Urban League of London and The Child & Youth Network and The Age-Friendly Network.
